Log into your dedicated or cloud server as administrator.

Click on: Start
Click on: Control Panel

Under: Control Panel
On the top right
View By: (Click drop down) Category
Click on: Small Icons
Under: All Control Panel Items
Click on: Default Programs
Click on: Associate a file type or protocol with a program
Under: Associate a file type or protocol with a program
Pick: Extension you want to change to a specific program (Ex: home.txt)
Click on: Change Program
Pick chooses: (Ex: Microsoft word) extension for word is “.doc or .docx”
Click on: Apply
Click on: Close
